Tivoli Audio Model One BT

Thirteen years after buying my first Tivoli Model One, I got this one to replace the unit that I used daily in my kitchen.   This is the Tivoli Audio Model One BT, which builds on the success of the Model One line of radios that were introduced in the late 1990s.

The Model One BT adds Bluetooth to the feature set, and it works beautifully for streaming audio from your iPod, iPad, iPhone, or any other Bluetooth device.  And like the other radios in the family, this unit has the great FM/AM analog tuner and Auxiliary jack.

The Model One BT has the same simplistic elegance as its brother: three knobs (tuning, volume, on/off/band), two LEDs (power and tuning), and that perfect Tivoli sound.

Check out my review of the original Tivoli Model One for more history on this unit.

The rear of the radio has headphone and record-out jacks as well as a mini-jack for an external AM antenna.  There's also an F-type FM antenna jack and a 12VDC input. The unit comes with a cord to operate on 120 VAC. A switch on the back allows you to choose between the internal and external FM antennas: I have this radio connected to an outside antenna and it performs very well across the band.

The dial scale runs from 88 to 108 MHz FM and 550 to 1700 kHz MW.  One very welcome feature is the redesigned band selector knob:  on the original Model One it was a simple round knob, which was difficult to use if your hands were at all slippery.  This version replaces it with a flat-sided knob which is easy to grab.

Tivoli sells this radio in five different cases: walnut/beige (shown above), black/silver, cherry/silver, black ash/black, and white/silver.

This radio is on daily in our house, and it's a welcome addition to any room in the house!  It currently sells at Tivoli's web site for $259.
